I would like to encourage all of you to consider HFMA Certification. Having taken that step myself, I can testify that it is truly a rewarding feeling. In addition to the personal sense of accomplishment, having those letters (CHFP or FHFMA) after your name is evidence of you dedication, knowledge and professionalism. It indicates to your associates and clients that you go the extra mile.
The current testing process is so convenient and you choose an environment that is comfortable for you. To test at your office or facility, you will need minimal support assistance from your Information System staff. An internet access program will be provided by National that will need to be installed. Refer to the “HFMA Certification Exam Process” information sheet available on the HFMA National or Idaho Chapter website (idahohfma.org) for more information.
In Idaho, we have the following qualified as Proctors:
Dave Birch, St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Boise, ID
Larry Kidd, St. Mary’s Hospital, Cottonwood, ID
Michele Marcum, St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, Boise, ID
As a Proctor, I would be willing to travel to the location of your choosing, schedule permitting, to administer your exam. Should you feel it would be better for you to “get a way” from your office during the exam, we can arrange for the test to be administered at another location. You may also want to arrange to test with some other members as well. Depending upon space availability, St. Alphonsus may be available as a test site.
The HFMA publishes Study Guides bi-annually. They are easy to use and provide all the information you need to successfully complete the exam. The Idaho Chapter will purchase the Core Study Guide for member use on a rotating basis. You may contact Michele Marcum to determine the availability of these materials. You will also need to select a "specialty" category and purchase the related study guide. An "online study guide" is also available. Refer to www.hfma.org for information. Look for additional information at the Idaho Chapter meetings as well.
If you have questions or just want to talk it over, contact:
